The Fearless Shaman
Shamans are by their very nature fearless. We've looked death in the eye, communicating with the very entities of the supernatural world. We were once known as hunters, stalking our prey in the wilderness. Shamans are predatory by nature, stalking evil spirits that interfere with our daily lives. We have no fear, knowing fully that we will have our spirits ascend should we fall. Nothing is capable of instilling fear in us, outside of the Gods themselves.
Shamans are called to face their own fears. Initiation often pits against our greatest weakness. We are given a very special guardian, one who will protect us and guide us through the spirit world. It is their job to see us unharmed. Each shaman abuses their protection, to strike at the forces that seek to undo civilization. Shamans are notable for their goodly presence, as few can ever succumb to the forces of evil. Taking on the masks of bears and wolves, shamans are blessed with many supernatural defenses. We are hardy, as our bodies break down much slower than a normal human's body would. We possess magicks, with each of them being useful to heal our own body and others. An experienced shaman is not expected to lose in combat. The Gods give us strengths that are reserved to only us.
It is impossible for a shaman to succumb to worldly things as the ordinary person might. Threatening us only brings our foes closer to our guardian's wrath. Groups of enemies are easy pickings for our spiritual allies. As long as we obey the law, we will live a natural life, unaffected by any psychic or magical sources. Yes, a shaman is immune to supernatural harm, as long as we would so not strike at our own guardians. Those who would tussle with us, either mentally or physically, are at great risk, as our guardians are often fond of pranks. These pranks our guardians play on humans has long since given the impression that our guardians are demons. Whether or not demonic or angelic forces protect us, we are free to continue our practices. I pray to the God of justice that none would seek to invoke our wrath. We abide by all principles of the spirit world, and they know nothing of human intervention. Spirits are bound to their own ways, and will not give into the pressures of this world. That being said, if you've ever encountered a shaman as your enemy, it was probably their guardian that had an issue with you! It's funny how creatures thought of as mere spirits live on through their shaman. We are clearly the hands that turn the invisible cogs of a seemingly unrighteous universe.
We aren't evil. We aren't creatures who compete for worldly gain. We often live in solitude, surrounding ourselves with the community as we are called upon. We are mystics, with our ways being often misunderstood by those around us. Shamans have the secret ability of communicating with spirits, with no tools or implementations needed. We do not need to use a device to talk to our friends, and jealousy is certain to rise up in the individual who can't see their own strengths. We are eccentric, often void of society's standards and customs that accompany the material world. Many of us are at risk of becoming hermits, as the world has moved past many of our former standards. Some people haven't even heard of shamans, which displeases me. Shamans have existed since ancient times, dating more than 18,000 years ago. Some of us are seen as storytellers, and are welcome to the little ones. Are tales of trees, rivers, rocks, and animals are often a delight to the youth, and may even leave them fearless! A shaman has long since battled the monsters that terrify children, so our ability to recount when we hunted these supernatural creatures pleases those who would hear them. We often befriend the monster in the closet, and that makes people feel safe.
We are either young or old in our practices. I have spent more than fourteen years practicing shamanism. It is something I do often daily, if not constantly. My time spent in trance has heightened my senses, and has increased my sixth sense. My role in this world has always been threatened. Spiritual possession has given me many of the abilities of my friends. The world has done their best to silence me. I am at well over 96,000 views. I have not been silenced, much to the credit of my readers. I have written well, and I have written miserable. If you've stuck with me even for a second, you will know that I am extremely grateful. If you are a new reader who is curious about shamanism, then look no further, as I will be communicating many traditional and modern takes on our lives. You will find that our standards have not changed for thousands of years.
People would ask me where my family roots came from. My family was derived from both the Irish and ancient Vikings, and my experience extends greatly into what is known as Seidr, the ancient magick taught to Odin by Freya. Men were seen as unfavorable for learning something that came from a woman, but it did not stop us from seeking Freya's favor. Some of us became Ergi, or the ancient term for a man who behaves as a woman, a behavior seen in both Loki and Odin. Odin was even depicted as being fertilized, where Loki actually gave birth to the mighty steed Slepnir! How little do we know about shamanism if it has existed long before these tales over a thousand years ago.
I ask that you not give into your own fears. I will later this year write a book on shamanism again, with my editing knowledge to yield great results to the reader. I know that I am not the last of my kind, but, often, I feel that way. Many can write on shamanism from a historical or anthropological viewpoint, but I'd like to think of myself as a firsthand account. Many people still offer classes in shamanism. If you can't discover enough from me personally, I urge you to take one if you are interested. I received all of my instructions from the spirit world, and what history I can tell you comes from years of study and application. I am not a perfect being, and will progress as long as my health permits. Very few classes will teach you much about trance induction. Drugs are often used to produce the desired effects, many of them outside of our laws. What you learn from anyone is only effective if you apply it to your life. How often do we not use anything we learn in school? All the time, as a book is truly useless if all you learn is simple trivia from it.
I'd like to say to everyone to remain fearless as you isolate during this pandemic. If you could, bring food to your elderly neighbors, and check up on them, as their respiratory systems are at much greater risk. Use sanitizer, and be mindful of social distancing laws. We can move on past this pandemic as long as fear doesn't control us. You might have a friend who has asthma who may not be able to go out because of the increased threat to their bodies that Covid imposes. Say a prayer for them, and watch over your own health as well.
