Teen Depression Is Serious

Teen Depression Is Serious

This blog post is written for both teens and parents. It's not so much to tell parents the science behind teen depression, but more to tell them to get real and start believing that depression isn't just a game we play. Many people die each day because of depression. Depression can make people suicidal, including teens. (Teens usually handle depression worse than adults!) Teen depression is something that destroys each part of a teen's life, and it makes you feel helpless. Teen depression isn't fair, and it is the greatest trial you'll ever live through. Out of all types of problems that a teen can face, (which is so many it's not even funny,) depression makes everything else seem like a joke. Our bodies are changing, and depression makes us go crazy. We already tend to take every little thing too seriously as a teen, and depression is the last thing we need. Cutting and self-mutilation isn't some fun thing we're doing, we're doing it to show you how sad we are. Nothing sucks worse than bad thoughts from the moment you wake up until the moment you finally go to sleep. I've never actually hurt myself, and, if you're hurting yourself right now, I want to remind you that you don't have to. Please seek help before you end up going a little too far with cutting. You're too beautiful to die. Life is worth living, I assure you.

Teen depression is as serious as anything can get. Those tears you cry aren't imaginary. You're suffering, and I know when the rain falls it seems like it will never end. Going to school when you are sad is truly frustrating. Trying to cover up the fact that you're depressed is an almost impossible task. How are we to get help when the world constantly tells us that no one is allowed to be upset? I'm sure boys have it even worse than even us girls! Boys are always told not to cry, and when they do, everyone makes fun of them! Teen depression isn't just a problem, it's a punishment that feels like it weighs you down no matter where you go. There is hope, though. There is always hope. You don't have to hurt yourself and try and fill that void with things like drugs and relationship that are more bad than good.

Help is often only a phone call or maybe even a message away. Telling an adult who you can trust is one thing but that can be really scary. It's hard to admit that you are upset and have bad thoughts. I'm going to share a useful link to a website where you can talk to people about your problems. Also, for my American readers, I'm going to provide a number that you can call to get help. First, here's that link to get connected to other teens that can help you. Copy it into Chrome or whatever.
