What Is Teen Depression?

What a wonderful name for a post. What is teen depression? I know what teen depression is. It's something that happens to nearly each and every one of us, right? Who are we kidding? We aren't invincible, and you know, we realize it, too. This is already the third blog post I've written since I've taken over, and there is one thing that I've discovered that really stands out. Teen depression isn't kind, and we can only hope to understand what it really is, because we don't know. None of us know. It seems to be our cost as a generation. Milienials are at a greater risk of self-injury and suicide because of the changing environment we live in. There is one thing I have to say, though. We aren't the only generation that has suffered from depression. My mom was an example of this. She grew up with many advantages that many of us don't have and still became depressed. She once told me it was because of her mother's harshness and the restrictions placed upon her. Because of that, she's raised me with freedom and love. How did she recover from her depression? It was my dad. He isn't the most pupular guy but he's known as a miracle worker. He told me that he'll give me his blessing no matter who I date when I get older. I'm still too young to worry about that, but I still think about it. Don't we all?

What is teen depression, though? I can tell you it really sucks. What teen depression will always be is a headache. Imagine waking up each morning with a weight on your shoulders that makes you not want to get out of bed. How about the struggle for acceptance and the fear that no one will ever like the real you. Maybe worrying about going to bed because of the nightmares that you'll have. Don't forget the one thing that really sucks. The bad thoughts that tell you that no one will ever like you and that you should just give up on life...or maybe worse. Life isn't a game, but sometimes it seems that way when teen depression strikes. It makes you feel alone and scared. It makes you want to go home, but you don't know where home is. It makes you feel like life is overwhelming. Man, it really sucks.

There is good news, though. There is help out there for you to get. People can help you if you can take the first step. Treatment is effective and affordable. There’s many types of treatment that are proven to work. You can live a little bit better, feel a little bit better about yourself, too. Don't we all want that? I have horrible self-confidence because of my on-and-off depression. I'm starting to get better these days, though, and I can honestly say that writing about it helps. Journaling is a great way for anyone to let out some steam. Whatever it may be, find a way to get help, as you'll find life is much easier to deal with when you are not alone. I'll always be here for you, but don't let your quest to conquer teen depression end here. Get help now. I am Ameila Varner, and I am your small voice that brings you Get Help Now, bit by bit, day by day. Peace.
