Teen Depression And Its Many Warning Signs

Teen Depression And Its Many Warning Signs

Today, we are going to discuss the symptoms of teenage depression. I'll also be sharing a link to a website that has some great information that may be of use to both you and your parents. Teenage depression and its symptoms can be both tricky and complex, so I'll share what I can.

Teenage depression has both warning signs and symptoms. The signs can often accompany symptoms, so it's best to realize when you are being affected by teenage depression. When we start to slip on our grades, use drugs, neglect our friends, stop doing our chores, changes in appetite, decreases or increases in  sleeping habits, and maybe even cut, we may be depressed. The symptoms of teen depression is often the same as these signs. At our core, we are sad and very lonely. We can become irritable and push away those we love. Although we may seem angry, it's more that we are reaching out. Teenage life is rough, and we may even get in trouble with the police or engage in promiscuous behavior. (You know what I mean, guys. I'm only thirteen so don't believe I know about that kind of stuff. I'm only reading some of these things off of a page. I know it happens, and you don't have to feel ashamed.) We may get into school fights or steal from stores. All these things are just some of the symptoms of teen depression. This is the cost of being upset. (These are all explained more in-depth on the link I'll share at the bottom of this post.) Geez, it really sucks, don't it?

There's many ways we can deal with our depression. Making friends, getting a job, or talking about it with a trusted adult are all things we can do to ease our depression. Don't wait, for real. Depression at our age level can be the end of us. Teens kill themselves all the time. My dad really likes the old Flyleaf albums because their lead singer, Lacey Sturm, tried killing herself as a teen. She claimed that she had a life-changing experience that made her want to live, and sing about what she is passionate about. The song “All Around Me” was about her suicide attempt, and the song, “Cassie” was of a similar message. We should make the decision to live, just like she did!
