Understanding Teenage Depression
Often, we don't understand things in life. One of the toughest things for us to understand is our own teenage children. They live in a very different world than ours, where there is constant peer pressure, from both a virtual world and a physical world. Our teens don't have all of the resources that we do, and when their lives aren't perfect, they may become upset. Some teens may even develop a problem called depression, where they may often have bad thoughts and hurt themselves. This is one of the major problems our teens face today as both cases of teenage depression and teen suicide continue to rise. That's right. Teenage depression can lead sometimes to suicide. We can't allow our teens to continue to suffer. There are ways we can help them.
Taking an active role in your teen’s life may make them agitated at first, but there are ways to do it without them feeling like you're invading their privacy. For a depressed teen, your intervention can mean everything. When a teen is depressed, you'll find out that they want to talk about it. The only factor is whether they can trust you or not. Depending on your teen's condition, treatment may be required. I know that medication and counseling may sound hard for both you and your teen to accept, but isn't it better than them being depressed and maybe even hurting themselves?
Our teens are up against a world that requires them to be perfect. Often, bullying factors into teen depression and suicide. You need to be active in your teen’s school life as well as add them on their social media to protect them from child abuse and cyber bullying. Your kid may hate the fact that you are there on their very own page, but, guess what? It's for their own safety.
Teen depression is inevitable for many teens. As I've mentioned, it's a common issue that many of our teens face today. Trust me, this does not make your teen any less of a person. The depression axis is completely treatable. Who knows? If you talk openly with your teen you may even gain their personal confidence. Your kids want to feel connected to you, no matter how old they are.
My new series, Hidden-The Series, explores many teen issues with an exciting dark fantasy setting. Forms of treatment and more in depth teen issues are explored, including sexual identity and teen drug abuse. The characters are life-like and 100 percent relatable. This series appeals to both adults and teens alike, as the blending of reality and fantasy makes for an awesome read. This series can only be found on www.channillo.com your one stop source for all sorts of excellent reading. Membership will net you access to all sorts of books and series that you'll be just dying to read. Be sure to check the site out.
There's one more thing that I'd like to mention. Teenage depression is only one part of the problem. Many children remain homeless and in foster care, with no parents to speak of. Have you ever thought about adoption? How about adopting a teen? They could really use your emotional and financial support. I'd really enjoy it if you considered the possibility. There is so many teens out there who need your help. Ciao!
