Forgotten Lives

Forgotten Lives

We forget the people who were once in our lives. Whether they die, are imprisoned, or have just gone to find another life, we tend to forget about them, and sometimes, they come back to haunt us, whether it be in our dreams or distant and fading memories. Why did we let these people slip away? Did you lose that chance to tell them exactly what they meant to you? Probably not, but if you were given a chance to have them back, would your life still be what it is today? Of course not. Everyone knows that everything happens for a reason. Remember those people in your heart, but also remember that they are gone not by chance but instead for good reason.

Many people forget about their dearly departed. People die, that's what they do. Should we forget about them, though? Never. They are always alive, as the spirit is immortal. I don't believe in a heaven or a hell, but I believe in an afterlife. Many people who are dead only want you to do a couple of things, and that is to remember them and know that they aren't truly dead. Only an ignorant person does not believe in an afterlife, like the soul is just something that can perish and be gone forever. Yet, in the eyes of humans, this is often the case. We seem to only care about what is visible and right there in front of us. Why must we tell ourselves lies? Eyes are just one sense, and we tend to put too much into what we see. Most, if not all, are bound to this law. We live in a very visual world, as we always have. We can only accept the consequences that come with our eyes. If we are to surrender to them, then all hope is truly lost.

Our forgotten lives hardly matter to those we knew. Time changes people, for better, and often for worse. Do you really believe that all these people who once loved us could just forget about us as if we are nothing? Believe it, because it happens to all of us. Sometimes, things aren't in the cards. It makes socialization seem more like a game of roulette, and this is the major flaw in the experience we call life. Trial and error should never seem like a standard part of life, but everyone knows it is.

Has this world really became a place of casual encounters and forgettable people? God, I hope not, but I know it has. It's very disheartening to know some people that you really cared about don't even waste one thought on you. There's a flipside, though, and sometimes we think we were good for them when really we are toxic to them. You won't know the real story of why someone left you behind until you know how the other person felt. Let's not accuse people of doing you harm when really the story could have been you were the one that was doing them harm. People come, and people go. That's how life works.

Don't believe that the people we forgot about forgot about us, too. Forgive them for what they've done, and never forget about the dearly departed. Live the good life, and cherish each day you have with your loved ones, because you never know, it may be your last. Pray for better times, and hope with all your heart that people won't forget about you.
