Aspirations
We all aspire to be or have something. We all want to be somebody, remembered in some way. A few of us have very high aspirations. What are dreams if we are too scared to chase them? One must foolishly pursue what they want if they are to ever hope to obtain it. What are your aspirations? Are they near your grasp, or are they far away?
Your aspirations are often tied into your career or social life. Are you chasing after what will make you happy, though? We should not aspire for what someone else wants. If you make your dreams about what others want, you will be miserable. There is only one rule that dictates your own happiness, and that is that you do what makes you happy. In my own life I have treaded a fine line between helping others and sticking to my own pursuits. To me, my own happiness is tied into helping others and myself. Are you like me?
Aspiration is like the water that keeps you hydrated on the long walk of life. We must keep our aspirations high to not burn out on that twisting path we walk. As the years pass by, your aspirations will shift. We must examine the future, always. If we are to be successful we need to grow, and part of growing is to move toward your blossoming aspirations. If you have been chasing a dream for years that has never been within sight, then should you not consider another dream or a new route to your own dream? I am not telling you to give up on your dreams but merely to be realistic. A realistic dreamer always has their dreams come true.
In the end we aspire for many things. Aspiration and ambition are demanding mistresses. They dictate the law that governs the chase of your dreams, and that is to obtain them or constantly try to obtain them. An ambitious soul is a mighty one. However, too much of an ambition will make you lose sleep, trust me on that. Is our aspiration merely a form of vanity, or is it that we want to accomplish something pleasing with our lives? Obviously, it is just that. Aspiring to do something with our lives is actually the opposite of vanity. We know that we will one day be gone and we want proof of our existence. We cannot ignore our desires to leave behind a legacy.
Everyone should have many aspirations in their lives. Consider your aspirations to be like the essence of life that you thrive for, like an unquenchable thirst. As we advance in our years we need something to show the people we love that we are successful. Without aspirations there truly is no real reason to keep going, but hey, that is okay, because I am sure everyone has dreams they would love to live one day, no matter how far away your dreams are. We can’t just imagine what it is like to be in our perpetual paradise, but instead work on actually being there. Whatever your dreams may be, may they come true so that you can be happy and say to yourself “I did it.”
