The Eightfold Path

There is 4 noble truths to be aware of. Suffering exists. Suffering comes from attachments to desires. Suffering ceases when attachments to desires ceases. Freedom from suffering is possible through the eightfold path.

The eightfold path consists of 3 traits divided between our senses.  Wisdom, right view and right thought. Morality, with right speech, right action and right livelihood. Finally, meditation, with right effort, right mindfulness and right contemplation.

I will now tell you about the different aspects of the eightfold path. First, the aspects of wisdom. Right view and right thought work together. In order to understand this world I need the right view, which ultimately shapes our right thought. Right thought is critical. If my view gets warped from ignorance and biased opinion, then my thoughts will fail. My mind must be right if I am to be free from suffering, which I yearn for.

The next aspect of the eightfold path is morality. Without morality we are weak and the world can easily corrupt us. Right speech is not a joke. What we say to others, be it strangers or loved ones shapes what others think of us and what we will become. Face it, our words shape us. Next, the right action. The actions we take shape who and what we will be in the next life. Taking the right path of action shape what suffering we will or will not have. Livelihood  plays a big role in our struggle. If we are not in the right profession or taking an up most path in life than we will only know suffering. No villain is without suffering.

Meditation is key to many things when done correctly, not just the eightfold path. The right effort  I'd needed for meditation. As far as I believe when pure meditation is practiced it needs the right effort to be successful. The right mindfulness is also essential. Our mind must be focused and we must establish the "Right frame of mind." One who isn't consistent in our mindfulness will not achieve the type of meditation needed for the eightfold path. Then we come to the need for the right contemplation in our meditation. What do we contemplate while we meditate? Is your heart in it? The right contemplation is of the essence, as it will determine if you are truly right to walk the eightfold path and to ultimately have freedom from the curse of this world, suffering.

The eightfold path is the key to free suffering, yet it is a grueling, constant and unforgiving. One must understand the 4 noble truths first. Within time, and with careful effort, you may walk the eightfold path, and know enlightenment and have no suffering in your heart. If only for awhile.  Try your hardest to maintain the eightfold path, and keep the 4 noble truths rooted in your mind, for They will be an eternal lesson to you. May this world's desires fade away as you practice wisdom, morality, and meditation, keeping the aspects of the eightfold path with them.
