The Old World

The Old World

The old world was a very different place from today's world. Where war and hunting played a predominant role to survival, our world places keeping up with social media and the news as staples. How would I know anything of the old world? Through the study of dusty old tomes, that's how. The more I study history, the more I find the old world romantic. Over the years I have earned the moniker of The Phantom Swordsman, a name that I've earned for several reasons. As I seek to honor my ancestors, I hope that all of us can appreciate the lives they lived.

When the sword died, guns were born, eliminating all expertise of the modern warrior. Anyone can point and shoot a gun, but few can wield swords that weigh many pounds. You'll know the heft of a large 20+ pound sword when you swing it. Although this is an extreme example of a heavy sword, you can see the skill needed to use a two-handed sword. We have brought forth an age where nuclear weapons threaten this Earth and our very own survival as a species. Einstein was an idiot, as he used his mind for evil. The Manhattan Project was our nation's deepest crime. America is a monster for their part in the creation of nukes and they hold the world record for the only nation to use them in an act of war.

As I sought the heroes of ancient times, I came across two heroines I love dearly. Artemis was one one of them, and as I felt her grand example of feminine power, I became allied with her ideals. Artemis is the grand protector of girls who haven't married yet and of course the hunting god. She was also the virgin queen of the Amazons. Why she stole my heart I really haven't a clue, but as I dedicated my writing style to her symbol she must work through me fiercely. I think I'm a real man for worshipping such a mighty goddess.

Hera was another ancient love of mine. Hera, the goddess of women and marriage, and of course the almighty queen of Olympus. Her trickster nature allured me to be affectionate towards her, as I feel she is sort of my celestial mother. Her scorn made both mortal and gods alike tremble. One notable myth I remember was the naming of the galaxy we reside in. After she had found out that Hercules was not her child, she ceased breast feeding him, spurting milk across the sky, creating the Milky Way. It's funny to think her arch nemesis Hercules bears a name that means “Glory Of Hera.”

These are just a few things I wanted to share about the old world with you. Let's not let our history die in the onslaught of the world pushing media upon us. My knowledge of ancient war and myth is just some of the gems I've discovered in my quest to live a rustic life. Explore our ancestors’ history today. A little seasoning never hurt anyone. Ciao!
