Today's World: 2016 In Review

Today's World

Today's world is much different than even the one our grandparents lived in. We are constantly moving from task to task, enjoying life to only the slightest degree. Our culture has been founded upon electronic devices and trends, not the basic necessities that once drove ancient society. We are not at the finest we have ever been, nor the worst. This world is one where the passions and traditions of the ancient and semi-modern world have all became but a footnote in history books. We do not remember our ancestors, but instead view them as some sort of prideful boast, something they would disdain. Life isn’t all that bad in today’s world, though. Today I will be winding down 2016 and discuss all of my findings from studying our culture and what positive movements we have taken philosophical-wise.

 1-Our Vote Finally Matters

We are no longer a nation in America that takes their vote for granted. It is clear more people cared about the 2016 presidential election than any other I have lived through. We should encourage democracy in others and hope that the rest of the world follows our example. We are finally free of the censors saying our vote doesn’t matter. Make sure you take part in elections, after all, it’s your choice and you should play an active role in deciding who will speak on your behalf.

 2-Modern Civil Rights’ Movement

With the legalization of many things in today's world, we are now moving towards a truly liberal and free world. We still need to see many things happen for women's rights but with the example of the strong women in society we are starting to see women earn more respect amongst their male counterparts. I hope to see all civil rights be established, as many still don’t exist fully, including freedom of speech. We should not be afraid to talk about our own personal views on the world, but many just aren’t readily accepted in this society. I hope that you can talk freely with your friends and family about what you feel and believe, because many can’t.

 3-Freedom Of Thought

This world is becoming more diverse, with freedom of thought being established amongst many sects of people. We are not little sheep being told what to do by the government at last, though not all are free from thought control, primarily the older generation. It is clear to mention those without internet access and regular use of it are still in the dark. We live in a world where the information super highway not only connects us with other people, but also connects different parts of the world together.

 4-Positive Thought

Promotion The world is becoming more positive as a whole. Ones who work in promoting positive self-growth such as myself are becoming more abundant. We will always have hope as long as we believe we do. We hear many negative things on the news, but what about all the good things happening in the world today? Believe me, the good things are numerous, easily outweighing the bad. Throw away that newspaper, turn off the news, and find a channel of your own where you feel good about yourself. You can never have too much of a good thing.

 5-Medical Breakthroughs

We now have medical services in many parts of the world that were non-existant in the past. We can rely on many different doctors for low-cost healthcare and sometimes, the healthcare is free. With new discovery in medical research we can easily defeat even genetical disorders and terminal illness. Homeopathic medication is on the rise, offering a safe and natural alternative. Medical marijuana is proving effective as a means for fighting the pain involved with cancer. We are becoming stronger in today’s world based off of our ability to think outside the box.

These are what I believe to be the top five major breakthroughs in the world today this year. We are advancing as a global society. Let’s all raise up our glass and say a big cheers for our green and blue planet. We are the best we have perhaps ever been although the lack of the close-knit societies may really hurt us in the long run. Let’s not let social media kill the traditional friendship and familar unit. We are truly the finest world in the galaxy.
