Peer Pressure

Peer Pressure

Peer pressure is something that both teenagers and adults deal with. We are constantly around others who are wishing to influence us. We do not know the rights and wrongs of society, but instead the bonds of social oppression. We have friends doing drugs, alcohol, and even worse things, and constantly your friends want to include you in their addiction. We should not give into any sort of social or peer pressure. We are strong creatures who are born with a conscience, and are constantly seeking social acceptance. Alas, though, we do not need to do drugs and drink alcohol to “fit in.” Yet the fact that we don’t have to give into peer pressure does not mean we will avoid it or not feel peer pressure’s tight jaws on us. We must understand peer pressure before we ever can resist it.

Peer pressure occurs on many levels which occurs on both a personal level and a interpersonal level. Even our romantic partners might attempt to influence us or try to pressure us into an act we do not want to do. Peer pressure is never good. We cannot merely dive into self destructive behaviors and still have a value attached to our soul. The whole “Everyone else is doing it” phrase will not help your family understand why you might of done a addictive habit. There are consequences attached to drugs and one of the karmic repercussions is the weight that comes in the future. Yes, drugs have negative karma that also includes the future aspect of stronger drugs that may break down your body and mind by far worse than marijuana and alcohol. We’ve all heard of a “social drinker” and that fact also supports the belief that many drink only because of the peer pressure put upon them. Never give up hope and always be honest with your friends and family. If you think their behavior is wrong then hey, it probably is. After all, you know your friends better than anyone else.

Conclusion

We are prone to peer pressure as a whole. We cannot hope to understand what and how peer pressure works but we should recognize that it is real and we need to work together to make sure our friends and family seek help and hopefully recover. To get involved with drugs merely because “everyone else is doing it” is the worst kind of excuse. We are not going to change the world if we are easily controlled by others and peer pressure is something your friends and family do to you unknowingly to make you suffer and conform with the world. Never conform. Rise above the influence and address any problems that you may have, because if you are going to help your friends break free from peer pressure you have to be free of it yourself. I cannot express how much it sucks to be controlled by drugs. One horrible feeling is to watch your friends melt in the hands of drugs like crack, meth, and acid. These drugs are proven to have a negative long term effect on the brain. Cigarettes and alcohol will give you cancer, and although it’s legal, these drugs should be treated as harmful to your body. With drugs there is no happy medium, only a habit and addiction to feed.

Remember, you do not need to give into peer pressure. Tell your friends peer pressure is wrong and that they should seek help. A person who drags you down with them is not a good friend, and until their addiction is gone they will never be your friend again. Channel out the distractions and join the drug free movement today. Remember, I do not use drugs and look at me, I am writing for freedom for all of humanity, because I love you and not drugs.
