Escapism
(Welcome To Our New Blog!)
The human mind is the center where all stress is received. It wears down the psyche, causing the human mind to go into decay. When the brain cannot handle as much stress as it is receiving, we break down, in both the mind and the body. There are several ways to reduce stress, but all of it can be boiled down into one single category, and that is escapism. What is escapism?
es·cap·ism
noun
the tendency to seek distraction and relief from unpleasant realities, especially by seeking entertainment or engaging in fantasy
You may say, "I don't do that," but trust me, you do. Watching television and reading books are two forms of escapism. They are immersive and fantastic realities that we often indulge in. Playing video games is a way in which we put ourselves in someone else's shoes to experience their lives. For some, escapism is drug abuse and the euphoric realities in which we experience, such as pain relief and hallucinations. These effects that they have on the human body are not the natural state of the human psyche. There's a chance that all of us experience lives that are unsatisfactory to our expectations. We all seek comfort from the pain. We are ignorant to the horrors of the world, and as an adult we expect too much.
What level of escapism do people go to? Those who hate this life, and, thus, this world, engage it often. Having a mind that wanders is dangerous. It can make you disconnected from your surroundings. Those who are weak minded are especially vulnerable to escapism. Escapism can be like a drug itself, granting a higher dose needed each time you've participated in escapism. When reality becomes too disoriented for the escapist, our everyday senses become engulfed in the illusions we've created. Escapism is something that is safest when experienced in tiny amounts. When our lives have been put aside for the casual delights of living an imaginary life, we hurt the ones we loved in our "ordinary life."
I'd like to tell you my personal story and how escapism actually works for me. I am a shaman who participates in all sorts of charades. Our lives would seem unreal or "not authentic" to those who have not studied our mystic ways. We believe in a coexisting world where both spirits and living beings exist, with the spirit realm ("Akasha") presiding over the actions of especially mortal beings. Their influence is invisible to those who do not believe in their power, allowing them to play pranks and guide humans where they want them to go, undetected. The scary truth is that there are more evil spirits than there are good spirits. The ideas of Tengu and Daitengu in ancient China reflect the same belief. Greater spirits manifest in shamans like myself, allowing us to defeat evil spirits. ("Hollows.") The spirits that I defeat are then returned to the underworld, where they await their judgment, just like humans do when they die and go to a heaven or hell. This great task would seem extraordinary or imaginary to the causal observer, with people falling mostly into the latter category. It would come down to me demonstrating my ability, but that can only be obtained on a believable level if you were face-to-face with me. The easiest ability that I can manifest is by searching through your mind and memories, reading your thoughts and past to you out loud. That's right, this is what people would term as the greatest of all fantasies, to live in a fantasy world while still maintaining my everyday life. It's an outrageously difficult job to juggle the invisible world as well as the one you would normally perceive in your mind. Life is hell for most shamans, as they are forced to live in a world not to their pleasing.
Whatever your escapism is, please, proceed with caution, and welcome to the newest incarnation of my blog. "Escapist Blog Daily" is a new blog for me under the same old banner, where I will be blogging daily about escapism. You'll find my thoughts and fun ideas for you to indulge in, right here. It was either this idea or a technical blog, but there is by far too many techie blogs on the web. Whether you are a real life warrior or someone who just rules the table at your local game store, you will find your top scoops to help you in your battles, chosen one, for your fight is eternal. (That is, unless you die. Then it is, of course, game over for you!) I've never been so excited before and I can't wait to see if you have what it takes to slay the dragon. Whether you are old or young, we can all find out our class with the roll of a die. Life was not made for our innocent minds, so let us step into an imaginary world where we are princes, knights, mages, wicked sorcerers and witches. We have it all right here but make sure you party up because it's night time and the undead are getting restless!
There's only one more thing to say. This blog is dedicated to helping those who have been bullied in their life and need some outlet to feel better about themselves. I'm not someone who doesn't care, I'm more like you where I am fed up with the awful state of the world. There's so much hate and anger in this country. It sickens me to think that we would then create more of it with our thoughtless actions. Before you say something disgusting about someone, just remember it is all karma and will return to you threefold. Love is the answer and when you attempt to harm someone, it will reflect poorly on your own psyche. Soon, you'll be just like us, a ruined mess who never got over all that evil you did to us. Think before you hatch your plots to destroy someone's life.
