The Signs Of Teen Depression

The Signs Of Teen Depression

When a teen is depressed, you'll often know it. This post, however, is written for teens. Today, we're going to help you know if you're depressed. There's a difference between getting sad every once in a while and being clinically depressed. Teen depression is often a chronic condition that lasts for an indefinite amount of time, so it's really good to know the difference between the Monday blues and ongoing depression.

Teen depression surfaces in many forms. One classic sign is the bad thoughts that attack at your self-esteem. Less common symptoms are self-harm and accompanying eating disorders, or something as simple as decreases or increases in appetite can and probably does mean you're depressed. Lack of interest in usual activities as well as neglecting friends seems to be two more prevalent signs that may indicate you’re depressed. Experimental drug use and alcohol abuse are also signs. Even more still is promiscuous behavior as well as criminal activity. A drop in grades and disinterest in academic events are classic signs that you may suffer from teen depression. Threats of suicide is the ultimate sign of depression and if you are thinking about this, I want you to tell an adult right now. You're too beautiful to lose. Life has so much to offer you and I don't want you to give up. Please, keep on living.

There's a few more symptoms I want to cover. Increased use of social media can even be a sign that you're upset. Sleeping too much is another sign. Neglect of chores and getting into arguments with your family may mean you're depressed. Lack of concentration can even be a sign.

Before I continue this post, I want to say that the previous list of signs of teen depression was taken directly from my dad. What I know about teen depression is one thing, but I know that he is quickly becoming a leading authority in this. As for me? There's a lot to think about. We need to understand that crying and self-harm, you know, cutting and stuff, are just two of the many signs that accompany teen depression. There's so much more to this once mysterious condition that we are discovering each day that leads us to create more effective treatments throughout the world. We need to treat this as a problem. My family knew a few people who took their own lives as a result of depression and it forced them to see this world in a way that few others can. Look at people online. All they want is money and attention. As for us? We want to help people. Maybe you are upset right now but want to help people, too. Live through teen depression and let people know about your story. You'll inspire them, and you'll become stronger, too. Life doesn't have to be rain and dark clouds. It can be so much more than that. Trust me on this.
