What Meth Does

What Meth Does

Meth is one of the worse drugs I've seen. I live in one of the worse neighborhoods there is, and I've witnessed this drug claim the lives of countless neighbors. The most recent neighbor to have her life destroyed by meth, we'll call “Andrea” and she is the neighbor below me. We call the apartment below us the “Thunderdome” because every neighbor who has moved in there has been evicted for four years in a row. Andrea is mentally ill with weight and hygiene issues. She came to this apartment place after losing several homes already. Andrea is susceptible to duplicating behaviors and talks to a neighbor we'll call “Judy” who tries to take care of homeless people despite the fact that it violates her contract. Needless to say, Andrea has tried to duplicate Judy's behavior and now it has gotten her into a lot of trouble.

Andrea has invited several homeless meth addicts to stay and live with her. Keep in mind that Andrea is so mentally disabled she can barely take care of herself. Over the months, she has piled up multiple complaints and is on the verge of eviction. She has lost interest in her old friends, despite how much they've done for her. She has incurred multiple thousands of dollars in debt and it's a miracle if she ever eats. She appears to have even had her phone cut off because of manipulation from the drug addicts. We believe that Andrea is even smoking meth with them, as she's lost weight and never exercises, as she hardly ever leaves her house. She must be afraid that her drug buddies will rob her, huh?

Upon entering this building, we had noticed that Andrea had very few teeth, which indicates that she had smoked meth in the past. It will only be a matter of time before she's homeless herself. She's lost all of her friends and her apartment has become a filthy mess, as she doesn't ever clean it. Homeless people have taken her life and destroyed it, all because of their meth addiction. Don't believe homeless people are all that great. They are homeless for a reason, aren't they?

If you know people like Andrea, you need to help them. The first step is to call the police as meth addicts are dangerous and will refuse to listen to you as they care only to feed their addiction. There is hope, however. Drug treatment and a strong support system are key steps into saving people like Andrea. When she gets evicted, I will be glad she is gone, but I still hope that she sees the error of her ways. If you want to lose your family, friends, and home, just do what Andrea is doing. Ciao!
