The Rise Of Teen Depression

The Rise Of Teen Depression

Teen depression is not a new problem. There is one alarming factor when it comes to teen depression, though. Teen depression, now, more than ever, is more common among all teen age groups. There are many determining factors when it comes to the diagnosis of teen depression. One, of course, is the advancement of childhood psychology, along with our ability to pinpoint and identify it. Another factor is the amount of parents who are now engaging in their teen’s life. One other thing that is contributing to the amount of cases of teen depression is that teens, now, more than ever, have an increase of social pressure. When more things are expected out of teens, the chance of failure becomes higher for them. Things like the internet and social media are one of the number one causes of teen depression.

Is depression permanent for teens? In many cases, no. Other cases are rooted from deeper psychological issues that may need treatment and constant counseling. Teen depression can lead to other problems, such as drug abuse and even self-harm. These are problems associated with both the self-confidence and thought patterns of our teens. Self-harm is not something teens are doing to be cool but more instead because they are lonely or struggling with their personal image. Personal image is never fair. American media makes us believe that even a single pound gained can make us unpretty. Additionally, rejection and bullying from other people towards our teens can destroy their personal self-image. The way we perceive ourselves is important and is almost shaped entirely based off of how others perceive us. Bullying occurs among all age groups and is even more common on social media and the internet. If it was my choice, I would want bullies to be prosecuted and sent to prison. This is only a dream, as most of America would be in prison if this was the case. We should never allow bullying to happen. If you realize that someone is bullying your teen, please, talk to your teen and take action to block the person on your child's social media. If you wish to do even more, report the bully to the social media website and ask for the cyber bully to be banned from the website in question.

Teen depression, as I've mentioned, has became an epidemic. My current works depict a clinically depressed teen who's struggling to find her identity. Throughout the ongoing work, my heroine discovers a love interest who has lost his way and is involved in disturbing behaviors. The heroine seeks to save her love interest from his guilt by engaging in the behaviors with him. When she is not with him, she deals with her own depression with drug abuse, and self-mutilation. Additionally, she's involved in a complicated love triangle with the male protagonist and her own best friend. Mindi, Blake, and Karla are on a journey that will border all sorts of realities that bring them along edgy fiction that can only be described as dark fantasy meets young adult romance. The blending of genres produces a series that can be enjoyed by teens and adults alike and features highly relatable characters. Leave all of your ideas at the door as my series breaks new and familiar ground. Hidden-The Series, by me and Jen L. Hawkins, can only be found on www.channillo.com

Teen depression has left many teens homeless as more and more teens have been left behind by their own families. Many teens that suffer from depression may have never had a family. Do you have children? Have you ever thought about adopting? Many teens need both emotional and financial support. You really should consider adopting a teen. Trust me, they will love you. Adopt a teen today.

Please be active in your teen's life. Tell them that you love them. Be there for them in all things. My parents were never there for me and we have made sure to not repeat their parenting mistakes. Ameila celebrated her thirteenth birthday recently and things have really gotten confusing for her, as it does for all teens. Her mother has always cared for her deeply and openly talks with Ameila about her problems. I also make sure that Ameila has all the attention she needs. Ameila will be greater than me as she has been given the fighting chance I never received from my parents. Give your teen that same fighting chance. Ciao!
