A True Holiday Miracle
Something amazing happened to me over the holidays. I had this goal to finish my latest project, Hidden Close, a part of the Hidden series that blends romance and action together in a friendly and encouraging manner on December 25th. I was nowhere near my goal. The day had been slow, and I was frustrated. All the yuletide carols couldn't bring me away from the fact that I didn't reach my goal. After careful consideration, I told my wife,
“You can't wait for a ship to come in, you have to bring that ship in yourself.”
I queued up some of my most encouraging music, and put my digital pen to the paper. I had already done my usual four pages for the day, and needed at least another good sixteen pages to complete the book. It seemed an impossible task to finish before midnight. (Yes: I'm awful to myself. If I have my heart set on something I don't rest until I get it.) I don't know what force was flowing through me, be them angels, valkyries, or demons, but I began relentlessly writing. I had an idea in my mind, and I had to bring it into print. After much labor, I brought the narrative to an end, and rejoiced. I finished it up with some tasteful dedications, and submitted it to my “editor” (my wife). The clock read what I wanted: before midnight! I'm not sure whatever my god is, or if I even have one, but whatever helped me gather the strength to complete my undertaking, I gave thanks to. (I’m not sure if I'm Pagan or Buddhist: honestly I don't care, but what happened was nothing short of amazing.) Five thousand words in one day is incredible, all of them on December 25th.
The book became live on December 25th, offered through Amazon as an EBook on Kindle. It is currently free for five days. The first book, Hidden Away, is also available for .99 cents, and will be free around New Year's Day for also five days. The book series is heavily influenced by Twilight, Night World, and the Buffy The Vampire Slayer television series. It takes place in Knoxville, Tennessee, and features a bisexual, depressive heroine. She cuts and pops pills throughout the first two books, and hopes that becoming a mysterious creature known as a Lamia will cure her problems. A Lamia can be defined as an immortal creature that is not a vampire. (but there are plenty of vampires to go around in the Hidden universe!) The plots in the books are delicately but loosely tied together, making for a fun dynamic series of events to unfold for Mindi and her Lamia boyfriend, Perry, to live through. Her friends and family are also blessed with amazing abilities, and any purchases or downloads are appreciated, as you help me to keep writing for you, faithfully. Thank you for letting me share my story. I was happy to sell a few books on December 25th, and you are more than welcome to be forever in my heart. I love you all, and I promise to fight for you. I will believe in justice above all else, and I will continue to bring the truth to you to the best of my ability. Ciao!
