2017 In Review
This year has been one containing many events. Because there has been so many of them, I will recount each of the events that have had people buzzing throughout this world. We are in for a grim future should we not remember the mistakes we have made in the past, let alone 2017. Without further explanation, let us recap the events that have left us stunned.
Trump’s first full year in office as president occurred in 2017, and what a year it has been. From the Muslim travel ban to the NFL controversy, he has really managed to pull off the lowest approval ratings ever. His antics on Twitter is what makes this guy easy to hate. Additionally, the Russian interference with the 2016 election investigation has left his stay in office an uncertain one. His refusal to acknowledge the summit in Paris about climate change has made him a sure choice for the most provocative president ever. I hope that he can learn from all of his mistakes that he made in 2017.
Tragedies have happened all over the world, from the Vegas shooting to the Myanmar genocide incident has made this world one full of terror. The hurricane in Texas left many without homes and a safe place to stay. We need to let people know that this world is one that will never be perfect. Gun safety rages on as a debate in the United States as countless more mass shootings are to come.
The cost of living continues to soar in the United States and our economy continues its decline as well. President Trump's measures to correct the economy continue to fail, and we hope his bills will fix the economy in the future, as Trump has promised. With the threats of more governmental shutdowns on the horizon, our economy is suffering. We must thrive as the count of jobs continue to plummet, and hope that our children can have a better future. A rise in social security is never a good sign.
North Korea’s ICBM tests have troubled this world since they have began in the recent past. North Korea's ruler has refused to halt his tests, and Trump's war of words against North Korea has left them bitter towards us. Will we be a target for their ICBM strikes? Time will tell, and the whole world should prepare for the worse. This world is in a truly fallen state.
Don't worry about tomorrow, but instead hope for a better world. Our future can be a promising one if we make the effort to create one. No god can save us, but we can save ourselves if we continue to create a positive environment for us and our children to live in. On a positive note, our technology continues to improve, with the iPhone X and the Nintendo Switch leading the parade. Happy New Year! Ciao!
