Stigmas
As a society, we give others stigmas often without realizing it. Branding people and placing a stigma on a person or group of people is a form of discrimination and stereotyping. As a human species, we are all unique and connected with each other in one or many ways. We should be past the point where every person is an egg in a basket and identical to each and every other one in the basket. We need to embrace people's differences, and think of them as a person, just like you and I.
People are not the same as everyone else who dresses similar to them and share a common demographic. One huge flaw about the American population is that we believe in stereotypes, branding, and stigmas. Just because a person identifies with a group of people does not mean they are clones of others who share the same statistic. I am not smart because I write. I am not a njnja because I am a martial artist, nor am I Asian. Asians are not all good at math and computers. The people of Europe are not uneducated. Not all British people drink tea. The list goes on and on. We believe the dumbest things as a human whole. This pours over to beliefs about mediums. Not all cartoons are family friendly. Not all video games are violent. Books are not always educational.
How did we ever get this way? Not every former prisoner will go back to prison. We should cease to give these stigmas. Not all people who cannot work are ill and weak. Not every man or woman who is anti-violence is religious. Not all religious people are close minded. These are just a few stigmas that exist within societies through out the world. We need to look at the bigger picture and let love control us. One who is loving and compassionate will hate injustice, and stigmas are by far injust. Sigmas are a symbol of hate. People should not discriminate, and people should not act as if people are alien to them. When we treat someone as a leper or a stranger, they feel unloved and as if they don’t belong. Why would us, as compassionate and loving beings, treat someone like a freak?
Stigmas hurt people and degrade the stigma placer’s soul. Whether we are aware of our discriminatory nature, we participate in a dark behavior. I am not someone who believes in the placement of stigmas, for I have a loving, compassionate and joyful soul. We are ones who feel with our hearts and not our minds, and the stigma placed upon people is a product of our mind. Many have said that the mind is evil, but how true can that be? Discrimination starts in the mind, and ends in our heart.
Destroying Behaviors
Stigmas and discrimination are barriers in our mind that prevent us from being great. We are creatures who must love, and love is truly colorblind. We are people who feel and have strong emotions, and we need to feel empathy. Empathy is the emotion that takes away our differences, and breaks down every barrier there is. Barriers are what must be broken, and our mind’s obstacles are nothing to fear as empathy is the strongest ability given to those who truly care. Feel empathy for the upright, the bent and broken, and your average person, and you will never place labels and stigmas on anyone again.
