Holidays: A Time For Family

Holidays: A Time For Family

We all are getting ready for the holiday season, and let's face it, there is a lot of stress involved. Do we do it for the drink? The food, maybe? How about for the gifts, or how about the festive spirit of it all? All of those reasons are not the truth, for we do it to spend great times with our friends and family. They mean everything to us. However, the stress involved with preparations for the holidays is overwhelming. What are we to do to help overcome the rush of the holidays?

We have a few things we can do to help us eliminate our holiday woes, and the number one thing we can do is to have positive thought. If we can focus on the goal of bringing family and friends together to enjoy a holiday celebration then this should be a motivating factor. Also, we should help share responsibility within our familiar units, not letting just one person do the cooking, gift shopping, etc. Additionally, we can bring together our own family with fun activities like decorating the house, which can be fun for our children. There are so many things you can do to help each other shoulder the burden that is the holiday rush.

When Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's Day all come up on the calendar we often start to sweat bullets for us adults and especially parents. Believe it or not, I have parents too, and I know that even at this point they want what's best for me. They want me to treat them great, as they want to treat me great. Sometimes, we should think of the family coming together as not just a holidays’ ordeal but something that should occur every day. Let us love one another, and encourage some awesome cooperation between all of our family and friends to work together always. We can beat some of our “Holiday Hardships” by focusing on what takes a special place in our heart, like our spouse and children.

There are other things I’d love to point out about the holidays. The holidays have never lost their meaning. Think about the commercial concept of Christmas and the holiday shopping season that occurs after Thanksgiving that starts with the “Black Friday” sales. These are awesome times to pick up some great deals on things like music players and new cell phones. Also, do any of us get ahead on Christmas as adults? The only gift we need from our children and mates is love. We thrive on love as human beings and that is what we need, not monetary gain or physical gifts. I think you and me can agree romantic love is superior to any amount money. Also, familiar or friendly love is something people want more than even thousands or millions of dollars. The holidays are perfect times for love. How amazing would it be to have your engagement to your partner happen on Christmas day? I’d love to hear all your holiday stories, as they touch my heart too.

Think of the holidays as great bonding time for you and your kin. I want everyone to not forget the central message of the holidays, which is love. Be sure to tell everybody how much you care on the holidays. Our time may be short, but our love is infinite. Go out there, eliminate some of the holiday stress. Hey, you’ll be glad you did, and you just might connect with those who are in your heart.
