Staying Focused On Today


This article is all about forgetting your hurtful past. We've covered this subject in earlier articles, but we are going to present new options to deal with your past in positive ways. We all have things in life that we'd love to leave behind us. Unfortunately, many of us can't. We find our past dragging us down at the worst moments. The only thing holding us back from enjoying today is our past.



We realize how the human mind works, blocking out bad memories as a defense mechanism. However, the human mind’s defense mechanisms are not invincible, as when past memories  resurface (”dug up”) we tend to dwell on them. In fact, we might obsess about the past and it can immobilize us. Our only hope is to remain positive and think of all the good things we have in our life and what is to come in the future. Our future is full of many positive opportunities we can grasp and make our own reality and future. By moving forward in life we are taking the initiative to focus on our potential and our right to be happy with where we are and where we are heading in life.


There are many ways we can help ourselves focus on the here and now. Taking time to do breathing exercises and meditation using the thought of where we are and where we want to be can help you remain positive and forget the past. Our enemy should be treated as the past and our salvation should be treated as the green pastures of the future. Thinking of our lives and where they are and where they can be can help tremendously. We must treat our lives not as mere moments where we think about what was but what it is and could be. Life is too precious and too short to not want the best for ourselves. Keep your hopes high and your eyes open, as life is a place that can be your field of dreams, if you will. We are never stuck in a hopeless situation. Even men and women in prison can lead a successful life. Point being, anyone's life can be turned around.

Tomorrow always carries a positive prospect. From the time we wake up to the time we fall asleep our priorities should be to focus on the good and shut out the bad. Never let your day get derailed by such negativity as seen on the news and in people's mouths such as gossip and hearsay. Many people tend to fall into the narcissistic trap we call the world. Nothing good can come from our world, as it is a place of cynical thought and worldly desire. Possessions in life hold us down and keep both our heart and mind captive. The world deals in trinkets and all the attachments that come from them. A positive mind can overcome both desire and possessions, as they go hand in hand and are always negative. Let your mind always be your light in the darkness of this broken world, for the enlightened will have their burdens lifted off their shoulders, and that includes you.


We all can focus on today and rid ourselves of our past faults. I must stress that we are never the one to blame, as in a bad situation we are always the victim. Just as hate begets hate, negativity begets negativity, and both will destroy you. Stay positive, focus on tomorrow, and you will leave your past behind. You can lead a happy and healthy life, making your dream a reality.
