Dealing with Trauma

Dealing with Trauma

Trauma occurs at a greater level in the mind than in the body. Anyone can deal with physical pain, after all, time heals all wounds. However, mental and emotional trauma is rarely overcame by a person. We struggle with horrific memories, all of them being caused not by monsters but man. We are constantly bombarded by the traumatic experiences of the past each day, with each memory leaving no survivors. There is good news, though: with proper practice and reinforcement you can help to control the painful memories of the past.

Trauma: Why it Occurs

Trauma- A very stressful or horrific experience.

Trauma occurs when an experience, (whether it be a short term or longer experience) becomes too scarring an unbearable for a person's mind to handle, it creates a traumatic mental wound in the mind. We are at the hands of mercy when something causes trauma to our reasonably powerful minds. No one can avoid a traumatic experience, not even the strongest man or woman alive, yet there is some things we can do to help kill the pain.

Trauma lives in the mind, and therefore we must recognize that the mind creates emotions through thoughts. So therefore we must control thoughts. One key strategy is to block out and avoid reminders of the traumatic experiences we lived through. Another is to think positively about everything. Yes, the most important strategy is thinking positive in life. with positive thoughts we can block out the past and move forward into a happier and healthier future. We are not bound by the past, but I understand some of us in our mind become captive to our past woes, be it death or worse.

Trauma is thought of as a war raging on in the inside of the minds and hearts of both men and women. The war seems to never stop for a victim of trauma. We hold onto defensive mechanism after defensive mechanism, each falling to the hands of trauma. We must treat trauma as if it’s our nemesis. We must fight against trauma everyday, as it is an ongoing battle. We suffer greatly when those past wounds come open, and we in turn must do our best to seal up those scars that burst open. Trauma hurts, but I assure you, you do not suffer alone, as many hearts both feel and share your pain.

Trauma is sometimes life halting, making it so we are frozen, both inside and out. Fight the memories, please. I love all of you and I know that peace can fill your heart. Take inspiration from what you can, be it me or anything else. Don’t you know when a man or woman chooses to fight a star is born? The sky cries when someone beneath it becomes a new person, stronger than before. I know what pain is like, some would say that I know it better than anyone else. Yet, here I am, giving you my blood, sweat and tears. Alas, though, I am no hero. I am but a man who wears a broken crown. I know you are who makes me strong, all of you. We are together a whole fighting for a better life. Can you make the decision to fight your trauma today? I will be with you in spirit all the way, in victory or defeat, as you are all my heart and soul. Fight trauma today and become a hero in your own right, one strong enough to stand tall in the face of the enemy.
