Unity

Unity

This is a very simple title for this article, though the concept of unity is a vastly complex and philosophical topic. The first two words that come to my mind when hearing the concept of unity are "peace" and "harmony." Unity is all about peace and harmony. Could you imagine the whole world, every person working together for the benefit of the planet? Every nation would advance, establishing better geopolitical relations. Seems like an impossible dream, doesn't it? I'm afraid it is, in the theoretical sense. This has nothing to do with ourselves as people or a whole-what it does say is that we have some barriers to overcome that are in our ways to effectively communicate and respect each others ideas. Harmony means that we all need to work together no matter how different we are. We can't stay at ends with each other-we must love one another, for unity is the most precious thing we can ask for. When we are unified, anything is possible. We can share our ideas, and live in peace.

Unity is something that happens first at the most basic level. We must be at one with ourselves before we can be one with others. Achieving inner unity sounds like it be easy, but unfortunately, this is far from the case. Inner unity means you must be at one with yourself. This is one of the hardest things to achieve. We must come to an acceptance with who we are and also our place in life. If we cannot accept both who we are, and our place in life (remember-our place in life is never lowly or high, enlightenment teaches us that we are free from the world and that our place is merely a precept of suffering,) we can achieve unity with oneself. Doesn't it feel good to accept who and what we are? A wonderful human being, no matter how many emotional scars we have. Self-acceptance is one of the most liberating things we can do.

After we have achieved unity with ourselves, we are finally ready to unify with others. We must accept them as we have accepted ourselves. We should listen to them, agree with them, share with them, and show compassion and love for them. That's right, as you would guess, love is the key to creating unity with one another. Being one with each other is beautiful, and the peace that goes with it is nothing short of divine. Wouldn't it be so great if our planet's people all loved and cherished each other, committing not one Karmic crime against each other?  I suppose I can dream-but also you can too.

Harmony is the opposite of discord. Harmony is where each and every part of a society works in perfect unity. Harmony is all about symmetrical movement-each part is not concerned about the appearance of the other part, or how the other parts work, but what the part does care about is functioning in synchronization with the other parts. Harmony is what makes everything work at maximum efficiency. Harmony is beautiful, and when any group of people works together, we become stronger.

Conclusion

Unity is comprised of both peace and harmony-a powerful combination. When we are unified, I don't believe there would ever be any problems, whether it be a family, society, or even on a world scale. I will tell you this right now-to change this broken world we must start by being at peace with yourself. We will then realize our full potential, and be able to unify with others. We must work together to unify with each other, and make our broken world a brighter place.  We can get along, and we can make peace with one another. Please, I urge you that we must work with one another of like-minds, for we can help stamp out adversity.
