Life is Empty?

Is our Existence Empty?

For what it is worth, on the record, this is a secular blog. This blog is not intended to have religious intent as I see it is pointless to tie into the issues we face today, as well as our enlightenment. Enlightenment can be achieved completely without religion. Today, we will be discussing if life is merely pointless or if we have a higher or lesser path in life. The paths we walk often intersect with many loved ones, but in reality, is our lives empty and meaningless?

Our lives often are often thought of having little to no actual meaning. We believe only the famous and powerful will be remembered, and our only job is to prolong the species. This is an excessively dismal and empty view many hold onto in life. Our thought is that we hold onto our deeds and then are transferred into a new physical body based on karmic selection. We are reincarnated based on our good or bad deeds, and continually forth. This means life itself is an illusion. This may surprise you, but it is truth.

The Buddha said "Everything is empty." Meaning, life is without form, without self, and without non-disturbing. We are in a constant state of flux, how could everything not be empty?  Let's take a deeper look at this;

Impermanence: nothing stays the same forever. Try to find something they doesn't warp or bend; there is nothing that does not.

Disturbance: if you cling to the notion that something will stay the same, you will be disturbed when it doesn't stay the same. Often people become disturbed when it comes to the changes as their bodies age. Nothing stays the same.

Non-self: Self is the association with an identity. Ourselves change, and an identity cannot exist. I myself am shapeless, and can't have self for even a moment.

So does this mean life is worthless? No! It means the concept of life is empty formed. We go through life, not realizing it's real illusion. Whether we save the broken world, or just be a mere part of it, we must freely realize that "what is will never be." Whether you desire one thing or the next in life you must accept it's empty-formed nature. If we are to change, why should we buy into life's appearances? The harder we try to keep up life's appearances the more we will fail. Life has the stipulation of empty-form, clear and simple. We cannot be held to today's standards, believing life will ever change. We are victims to the illusion reality creates.

We do not understand why life is an illusion. There is no certain truth, but if we are to keep our sagehood than we must not become disturbed by the ideas that life never changes. Life does change, and all form is empty. Do you remember how you were yesterday? How about a month ago? A year or more ago? You'll easily understand this now. You realize fully now we were different then, and will not be the same tomorrow. We have so much to exist for, and all of it is empty and an illusion.

It's  not for us to say our lives our pointless and a mere charade. We can find enlightenment, as this is the only thing worth chasing after. If you do not believe this then look around you. Everyone's suffering in this broken world. Why should you want a riddled and suffering mind? Pursue sagehood, and accept your own self's form: a completely empty one, as all things are.
