Mental Barriers

Mental Barriers

Every person and one point has one or more of some sort of mental barrier. Mental barriers can often most likely be some sort defense mechanism that is more tightly woven into th e human mind. Mental barriers are a sort of scientific and metaphysical type blockage. They will try ever so hard to prevent you from being successful in life. For example, one that is common for aspiring authors is the failure to write a novel. Anyone can write a short article or story, but often young writers fail to break the barrier that prevents them from truly soaring.

Mental barriers are often attachments with what are "comforts" to us. The comforts which are truly mental barriers are often something as common as the failure to discard something old (be it possession, material or otherwise, including even people) and not failing to move on for bigger and better things. One might hold onto a couch that is broken up and dirty for the mere possessive quality of it. Attachments truly do carry the aspect of suffering. If your mother was abusive to you would you still talk to them? If a lover hurt you would you still stay with them?

Often a standard mental barrier people have is the inability to talk to people outside of our comfort zone and/or social circle. Making new friends is something one hardly does at all in this day and age. We hide in our social turtle shell, shying away from anyone new or different from us. Why we would not want to have more loved ones in life is something absurd. If I wanted to be your friend would you let me in? Or would you stay in your shell, missing out on the opportunity of a potential new true friend?

Breaking mental barriers often means you have to just let loose. You can become a better, stronger person if our insecurities are shattered. Often, it's quite difficult for a person to do. Would you really pass up a new job with more pay and better benefits if it meant being a manager and not a cashier? This sounds like an obvious choice to take the new position, but for many people it is not the choice they would take. The choice to jockey a cash register instead of having a promotion is also a mental barrier. Many people simply do not want new responsibility. This is by far a fear of commitment. A fear of commitment is a mental barrier that will prevent you from achieving true greatness, be it career, social and/or love life.

We can't let mental barriers hold us back in life. You will have to put yourself into many new situations in life if you hope to both cope and survive the trials of everyday life. Life is brutal: why not clear the obstacles in your mind, and ultimately in life? I believe that all mental barriers are a manifestation of fear. The only way we can overcome our fears is by facing our fears head-on. We cannot live our life in the shadows, for even the quietest among men and women must interact with others, if they hope to be happy.

Conclusion

Mental barriers are natural in men and women and must be overcame if one hopes to make it in this world. New friends, new jobs, and quite frankly new life.
