Endurance
Endurance is the key to life. We do not live a short ordeal, but a marathon of years and infinite lifespans. We often do not think in terms of eternity. We always get hung up on point-to-point thinking, attempting to make each milestone on the highway we call life. How are we to spend eternity if we cannot even master endurance? To run a marathon we must have endurance, and life is a marathon.
Endurance is a skill learned only through running the race, over and over again. Ultimately, the longer we live the more endurance we have. It's all about being battle-hardened. Yes, that's right: life is a continuous battle, a tour de force. Nothing can withstand life without experience, and experience comes from trial and error. We believe we are invincible when we are children. When we are young adults we believe we are mature. When we are 30 we believe we are wise. When we are 40 we panic. Does this have to be the story for every human? I believe not. We can rise above the enigma of time as long as we train ourselves to endure the downpour of life.
I've heard that diligence has a lot to do with endurance. The more we work the less anxiety and sloth we will exhibit. Inactivity breeds so many negative behaviors in a human. It's not about being bored, it's all about not making the best of what precious time we have. I try to keep busy, and I know it's best to use my time to do positive things and behaviors. With diligence comes endurance. A man or woman rises when they try the best to not only make the best of their time but also use the time to reinforce good behavior and knowledge.
What is the main obstacle to learning endurance? It's our failure to get back on the horse and try again when we fail. I cannot stress this enough: never give up. Never, ever give up. All good things do not come easy. We must work to develop strong and healthy minds, and endurance is what we need to protect ourselves for those trials that rise up in life. I'm sure all of us have been in a bad situation in life that we thought we'd never would get over. Within most circumstances, we do get over that mountain. Often, we even learn from the bad experience, and often we don't make that mistake again. Our spirits are what wills us to overcome. We can do anything with that immortal part of us, the spirit, and the ever-enduring soul.
Endurance, the Fire that Tempers the Soul
Endurance is what makes our souls turn into either putty or steel. Not everyone will withstand the trials of life, and it pains me so. Many people just aren't cut out for life, and often those people have their hands in drug abuse, crime, and other unsavory things, such as addiction to things we don't normally see as addictive, such as greed and pride. Will you fall into that pit trap we call evil? Will you submit to the flesh, lusting after everything awful and forfeit your chance to obtain an enduring, battle-hardened soul?
Conclusion
Endurance is a key ingredient into the recipe that makes us succeed in life, alongside karma and being non-material. Self does not matter, and neither do possessions. Living without self worth and physical possessions is something really difficult for even the karmic masters to obtain, bit endurance is not. You can endure the storm, and live in this broken world easily and strong, standing your ground in every situation. Remember, as time heals all wounds it also builds character and endurance.
