The Subconscious Mind
This is a difficult, but a popular subject. The subconscious mind is almost like a record book that stores memories almost flawlessly and helps us function the correct way as a computer does with it's programs. When a part of the subconscious mind is executed, we respond in the way that is stored for that situation in the subconscious mind. Basically, it is our internal programing.
Does that mean that our n mind is more machine than biological? In some ways, yes. The subconscious mind is what we refer to as the part that is not currently being used in the here and now. It is possible that our conscious mind can only store a set amount of data, and that the subconscious mind compensates with our personal learnings and past experience. But what is the absolute limit to our subconscious mind? Is it vast, like our star oceans above? Prepare to find out.
The Mind And It's Powerful Tool
First we have to treat our subconscious as a tool, an useful one at that. The subconscious mind has been a topic for debate for many years. We know it exists, and essentially what it does. But what and how can we tweak it to become more potent? Subconscious programming is a bit of a tricky subject. If we train our subconscious mind too much on one subject, our knowledge and personality will become mundane and boring.
When we begin working a job, we go through initial training, and then later begin to go about our work with the occasional, but not essential, help from a manager. After so long, we are expected to fulfill our job duties fully alone. This is a good example and model for how subconscious mind works.
Thus, if we feed our subconscious mind positive thoughts, we will in turn become a positive person, which is for the better. One who absorbs negative behavior, be it through others or their own personal negative programming, the person is doomed for failure. The subconscious mind, you may say, is more impressionable than the conscious mind.
If we can merely harness the power of the subconscious mind and use it to commit good behavior and useful skills to it, then we are set for life. However, the subconscious mind is always active, where the conscious mind is not. This means if we are to use our subconscious mind to it's fullest we must constantly be positive. The positive mind is always superior; it believes in all things and is always willing to try new things. Never underestimate what a person can do.
It's important to add that martial artists use intense, repetitive training to keep desired techniques in their subconscious (I believe in non-violence and also participate in martial arts: I am no monk but will say that my heart sways into certain useful training promoting discipline. Also, to much of the same degree, a writer who practices often will always be the better one, as long as they remember what works. The subconscious is active in whatever livelihood you chase after, be it monk or writer.
