Dealing With Oppression

   Dealing With Oppression

Oppression occurs all over the world. Oppression is one of the worst things you can do to a person or a people. Oppression leaves a person depressed, tired, and hopeless. Oppressors are everywhere, and we must learn how to survive the mental and physical duress. Oppression is a sad fate that ,many live through.

  Active Mind Engagement

A happy mind is an engaged one. Suffering, as often discussed, is created by the mind. If we keep our mind active, then we might lessen the burden of both suffering and oppression. Whether it”s reading a nurturing book or a quiet game of solitaire, the mind both grows and relaxes when in active use, which is one of it’s prime functions. When life gets you down, some people reach out for alcohol or tobacco {or worse.) The truly wise, though, seek to sharpen the mind. Though, each and every person is entitled to their fate and I respect that.

  Discipline

Sometimes, if not often, our best defense against oppression is to practice mental, emotional, and physical discipline. Discipline grants you an advantage that pushes against oppression. Discipline makes you content with your existence, no mater what it may be. One may find this view pessimistic: I, however, find it completely optimistic.

Discipline is not easily acquired, and has to be constantly practiced to maintain efficiency. The mind naturally seeks pleasure, which in turn degrades the body. Our best friend is discipline. Now im not telling you to never have any fun, just to not become lost in the joys of this world. This world is broken, and will always be. To find a happy medium is an enigma even greater than dharma.

  A Silent Resistence

The best resistance, besides an underground one, is a silent one. Meditate, read, and seek the ultimate reality, nirvana. Trust me, nothing will free your mind more than seeking the truth. The only place to find the truth, is hidden deep within the mind,. How you find that truth is completely unique to your own experience. I cannot tell you how to live your life, nor can I say the way I live my life is right for you, but what I will say that freedom, that form of resistance, is buried inside you. I hope that you find it.

    Shielding the Mind

A mind shield: sounds quaint, doesn’t it? When our oppressors pursue us we must put up our shields. Our defense for our mind is to seal it away, and keep our emotions hidden. Sometimes, being emotionally open makes you appear weak. By no means am I saying emotions make you weak, but I will say the evil prey on those with heart.

A mind shield is created from, (yes, you guessed it) your mind. Guard both your thoughts and words, and leave them to your privacy. Emotions come from the mind, and are transparent. Safe guard your thoughts, for oppressors will look for any reason to use your own thoughts against you. Mind shielding is simple, and requires patience. I know you just want the pain to stop, if only for a moment. Don’t shed a tear, for your oppressors would love nothing more than to have one wasted on them. Rise above all.

   Conclusion

There is no real way to completely escape your oppressors. The techniques I’ve listed and briefly described are a few of many that can make anything in life much easier to bear. I hope that yo7u may find solstice, if only for a moment. I know what it is like to be oppressed, and I know there is no worse fate.
