The Art of Practice

Practice is the art of refinement. To practice is to continuously reach for the stars without any possibility of reaching them. Even so, practice is everything. One can never be a master without practice. There is no "born natural." Practice each day and you will reap the benefits.

You can practice anything. More notable things we can refine is penmanship, strategy, artwork and cooking. Some skills can be trained with simple trial and error, some skills can be honed by reading manuals and finally, some must be learned from a teacher or a partner. Always remember there is always someone who is more skilled than you and they are by far the best to learn from. Seek them out and surround yourself with like minded individuals.

Life is all about learning. The skills we learn as we age are necessary and must be kept fresh in mind. Quite frankly practice skills is the only way we can prevent ourselves from becoming "rusty." In reality, practice keeps us sharp and improves what we already know. Short term memory is superior to long term memory.

There are various places you can practice skills. You can do it in private or experiment with your skills in the work place, with friends, teachers, at home or even ask for advice online from people to assist you in your studies. The possibilities are endless. Never stop the learning process. Remember that every skill is worth learning.

As for the application of skills, you should take every chance to use the skills you've been practicing, succeed or fail. You must commit everything you've learned and if you fail, remember what you did wrong. Never give up in life, for the one who gives up is unappealing. You will gain the admiration of your peers merely with your "never say die" attitude. You must have iron will and a graceful attitude.

Remember, in this social food chain,  there is a right way to do things and a wrong way. Never attempt to gain the scorn of your comrades and co-workers. Don't be a show off or a sore loser. No one likes a crab. If your friends and family need your help with something you've been practicing, then by all means, show them what you know. You might make the conjecture that you should study with your family and friends if only to assist them. We all want support and what better than the ones close to you?

In conclusion, there is much more to practice and the application of the skills we practice. The art of practice must be used efficiently and with care. There is no limitations to what the human body's capabilities. The most important rule to the art of practice is simple: you will never be perfect.
