The Ancestral Call

Many people are unaware of their heritage and even less of their family tree. How could anyone blame them? With websites and software charging a substantial amount of money to find out your family history, it does not surprise me at all that so many are put off on learning about their ancestral roots. However, your ancestors are the ones who shaped who you are, even today.

The common person believes that ancestral history is limited to national origin. Finding an identity through national roots is indeed quite a grand thing, yet it should be taken one step further. Our ancestors all had occupations, just like us. With research you may even find out they worked in similar occupations as you!  There is much to learn from our family's past, and it is very gratifying.

Wouldn't it be quaint to sit down with our ancestors and discuss their lives? I'm sure many wished that they kept journals of their lives. This being said, I strongly recommend keeping one for yourself in a safe place. Whether it's a safety deposit box or your own personal safe and pass it down to future generations. You may even want to talk to your elders to see if they may know anything about your family tree or perhaps to see if they remember anything about their family that you may of been too young to realize. Your elders are always wise and would love to spend more time with you. Take advantage of this and make your elders smile.

Who knows how far back your family tree goes? You may even discover that one of your family members was famous! There is such enjoyment out of this labor of love and I am sure that you will find it fascinating. Also, a suggestion for those of you who had active service men in your family. There is a good chance that you may be able to find records or highlights of their military career online. Also if there were any athletes in your family, information online about their career is quite  easy to find out as well.

I wish you all could have a deep spiritual connection with your ancestors. Even if you have fears or doubts about your family tree or perhaps are initially put off by the idea, I'm sure you'd still find it fascinating. Spirits never rest and the unique thing about you is that so many inner revelations may be realized during your study of the people who made it possible for you to be alive today.

Don't ever forget your elders and ancestors, for their pains are shared with you today. They just want to be remembered as any soul does.
