Perception

Perception, quite simply, is the recognition of things. Perception is divided amongst the senses, including the mind. Mental perception is also divided into sensory like phenomena. Having keen perception is critical. Perception of the 5 senses is not as critical as what the mind perceives.

Having correct perception is a must for both work related and home related events. Perception of other's emotions is key to your relationships. If the person is truly close or important to you, then you should correctly perceive their emotions right away. How you sort things out after you are able to recognize things is completely up to you. If you are in touch with your senses then they will not deceive you.

You must remember that you should not give out the wrong signals for others perception. The last thing you want is for your partner or boss is to get the wrong idea. Work within your own perception, practicing good etiquette. Recognizing the right work and social related gestures and protocols is the key to keeping strong bonds and relationships.

One of the best ways to improve your perception is to let your mind draw pictures during reading and meditation. For example, form a mental image of yourself within your mind. How do your perceive your image? Are you giving off signals? Are you 'wearing your heart on your sleeve?' Try to keep your heart silent and mind sharp. Put yourself in certain situations in your mental image. How would you react to others? Would you be able to keep your emotions in touch when a partner or boss critique your work? What about if your partner noticed something and wanted to give their opinion? Would you break down and destroy one's positive perception of you? Or would you stand tall and have their perception become even more positive about you?  Face it, we all have opinions and our perception can and does shape what others think of us. Humans have a cruel way of keeping a negative image of people that is formed at one time or another. People hold grudges, people get fired from jobs, and partners leave their significant other all due to negative perception and an unforgiving heart. Do your best not to become a victim of the heartless.

To recount our steps, we know perception is the recognition of things, that can be formed by taste, touch, smell, vision,  hearing and the mind. Perception is something that must be exercised with both precision and caution. Perception is the key for keeping healthy relationships. Living a karmic life requires good  perception and caution. It is important to not doubt what you perceive. Careful thought, practice, and meditation will hone your perception to make he correct choices. Proceed with perception guiding you and tread softly on other's perception. On an ending and interesting note perception in Buddhism is the same as the sixth sense in the west.
